Derby County have reportedly earmarked Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns as a transfer target for the upcoming January window. The Sun reports that the Rams have joined a 'growing list' of admirers of 18 year-old Danns, who is the son of former Crystal Palace and Leicester City midfielder Neil Danns.

Danns junior, a striker, has yet to make a senior appearance for Arne Slot's Premier League table-toppers - having made five outings in the previous campaign which included a two-goal showing against Southampton in the FA Cup. It was after that game that Slot's predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, praised Danns for scoring a superb chipped finish to open his account for the Reds before following-up on a rebound to double his tally.

Danns is a prolific goal-scorer for Liverpool's youth teams, with 21 across 35 games according to Transfermarkt. "Dannsy is quite a good finisher, the first goal was exceptional, but the goals are no different to the youth level," Klopp said after the Southampton game.

"The second goal is just his nose. "We saw that in the [Carabao Cup] final; he was just a little bit unlucky."

Danns, whose Reds team-mate Nat Phillips is already on loan at the Rams, would add another option up front to Paul Warne's squad if indeed he does sign for the club. Jerry Yates is in form and playing well, but Derby do need more options off the bench heading into a busy second half of the season.

The worry with bringing in a young loan player is what happens to Dajaune Brown, but it's likely he heads out on loan to maybe a League One or Two side after spending the first few months of the campaign in the Rams' senior setup. As for Derby's January business, the club's owner David Clowes confirmed on Christmas Eve that all parties are aligned and conversations have been had with Warne and his coaching staff about the upcoming window.

"We're not going to be so naïve as to play out our work publicly, that would be foolish," Clowes said. "What I will say is that there have been extremely calm and measured discussions with [Paul] Warne, he has outlined exactly the areas he feels we need to improve, and we have agreed with his strategy and will do our utmost to meet his requests.

"We have stuck firmly to the business plan and that means there are both funds available and space within the squad to strengthen without threatening our financial position. There will be no panic, no mad splurges that go against our plans, we will operate in a way that maintains our stability while adding quality to an already talented squad."
