Liverpool transfer confirmed as Arne Slot makes key decision after 'very important' claim
Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has completed a loan move to Las Palmas for the rest of the season. The 20-year-old spent the first half of the campaign at Red Bull Salzburg after former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders signed him. However, Bajcetic endured a difficult time in Austria.
There were rumours of dressing room unrest among senior Salzburg players at what they perceived as preferential selection for Bajcetic and Bobby Clark, who joined on a permanent transfer in August from Liverpool. Bajcetic started just EIGHT matches for Salzburg before the Reds made the decision to recall him.
Real Betis, Porto and Las Palmas had appeared to be the three frontrunners and now it's been confirmed that the Canary Islands side have won the race to his signature. Las Palmas sit 16th in the La Liga table having won just six and drawn five of their 21 fixtures, three points above the relegation zone.

Bajcetic is set to be unveiled in the press room of the Las Palmas Sports City at 9:00am. He is the club's second arrival of the January window after Andy Pelmard made the loan move from Clermont Foot. Among the players at Las Palmas include former Manchester United midfielder Adnan Januzaj.
Ex-Everton striker Sandro Ramirez is plying his trade at Las Palmas, while Fabio Silva, Oli McBurnie and Scott McKenna are the other Premier League exiles that play for the Spanish club. Bajcetic is going to join that contingent and could make his debut against Girona on Monday if the paperwork is done in time.
Back in August, Arne Slot revealed that Bajcetic could become a "very important" player for Liverpool but needed regular minutes and experience - something he wasn't going to get at the Reds this season.
Slot said: "I hope it will be a big year for him because he’s a very talented player and I think he could become a very important player for us, but only if he gets playing time now.
"If you are that young and you’ve been out for so long, the only thing you need is playing time. He could have playing time over here, but we’ve got six or seven very good midfielders, so his playing time here will always be more limited than we expect him to play at Salzburg.
"So for him, and us, we think it’s best for him to play at the moment, instead of maybe playing a few times and then being on the bench for a long time again. It’s very difficult to keep a player fit who’s been out for 15 months when you only play him once in a while.
"So this is for the long term. Again, this club has been smart, in my opinion, in the past for not only looking for the short term, but also the long term. It's a smart decision, at least in our opinion, to let him go somewhere, where he will hopefully play a lot of games. Then for next season, we’ll have a player. If he fulfils his potential, [he] could definitely, definitely play for us in the future."
As his move to Salzburg didn't work out, Slot is going to be keen that Bajcetic impresses at Las Palmas and gives him the platform come back ready to compete for a first-team place in the Liverpool squad.
