Liverpool's superb season under Arne Slot shows no signs of slowing down after the team's 2-1 win against Lille on Tuesday.

The Reds defeated the French side 2-1 at Anfield to maintain their 100 percent record in the Champions League, with Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott scoring their goals. Slot's players are top of the standings and guaranteed a spot in the last 16.

Liverpool is also flying in the Premier League, sitting six points clear of Arsenal in second and Nottingham Forest in third with a game in hand. And the Reds are still in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, although they must overturn a one-goal deficit in the second leg of the latter tournament's semifinal. Slot will now be expected to win silverware during his first season in charge.

But will Liverpool sign a player before the ongoing January window closes? Here are the latest transfer rumors from Merseyside...

Luis Diaz (Barcelona)

Barcelona remains interested in signing Luis Diaz, according to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness). It's claimed the Spanish team has compiled a three-man shortlist, which also contains Newcastle's Alexander Isak and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.

Barcelona is looking to improve it's attack in January, with Diaz and Isak preferred to Rashford. Yet the latter is a more realistic and affordable option for Hansi Flick's side, as Rashford no longer seems part of United head coach Ruben Amorim's plans. Barcelona has been long-term admirers of Diaz, who still has two-and-a-half years left on his Liverpool contract.

Liverpool.com says: There's no way Liverpool will sell Diaz in January, as the 28-year-old is an integral part of Slot's plans. But this will not be the last time Barcelona is linked with the Colombian forward.

Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)

Liverpool is more likely to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich this summer than Manchester City, according to German outlet Bild (via Rousing the Kop). It's claimed the Reds are considering bringing the 29-year-old on board at the end of the season.

Kimmich is one of the most respected midfielders in European soccer after making more than 400 appearances for Bayern. He's won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League during his time in Munich, having arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2015.

Yet the Germany international, who's won the Confederations Cup and 97 senior caps for his country, is out of contract at the end of this season. He's not expected to leave Bayern in January, but it's unclear at this stage if he'll sign a new deal before June.

Liverpool.com says: Landing Kimmich on a free transfer might seem a bargain, but do Liverpool really need him? The midfielder turns 30 in February and is likely to command the last big multi-year contract of his glittering career. The Reds should negotiate new deals with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk - who are all out of contract in June - before they even think about signing Kimmich.
