A report by TEAMtalk claims that Liverpool is eyeing Real Madrid targets Jeremie Frimpong and Alphonso Davies in response to Los Blancos' pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The report says that the Reds are targeting both players "out of spite", which would be a ludicrous strategy for a club's recruitment department to implement, and undoubtedly lessens the credibility of the report.

Liverpool is said to be the best-placed club to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Frimpong next summer, while Davies is also mentioned as a possible target as the Reds search for a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who turned 30 earlier this year.

Madrid is a long-term admirer of Davies, whose Bayern Munich contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and it was reported by The Athletic earlier this month that Madrid reached a broad agreement on personal terms with Davies in February.

However, the report also said that Madrid cooled on the idea of signing Davies after that agreement was struck and went months without resuming contact, prompting Davies to question how much Madrid wanted him.

That increased the possibility of other outcomes, such as Davies signing a contract extension at Bayern or moving to a club other than Madrid. Other potential left-back targets for Liverpool, according to TEAMtalk, are Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth and PSG's Nuno Mendes.

Meanwhile, another spurious transfer report by Fichajes says that Real Madrid is interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister has been a revelation for Liverpool since moving to Anfield from Brighton in 2023, seamlessly adapting to his new environment and playing a key role in midfield under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.

The Fichajes report says that Madrid is looking to refresh its squad, with Luka Modric in the twilight of his career, but it is claimed that Liverpool would not let Mac Allister leave for anything less than $104million.
