Liverpool vs Accrington Stanley weather latest as sub-zero temperatures threaten FA Cup ties
Liverpool has been hit with further freezing temperatures this week in the build-up to the FA Cup third round tie against Accrington Stanley. A yellow weather warning for ice has been enforced by the Met Office since Thursday afternoon as temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.
This has led to concerns that Liverpool's clash with their League Two opponents could be postponed. Last weekend, after snow hit the city, Liverpool's home game against Manchester United was subjected to two safety briefings from the council before eventually being given the green light to go ahead.
Fortunately, working in Liverpool's favour this time is the fact that the weather warning for the region is expected to end at 10am on Friday with the match not kicking off until 12:15pm on Saturday. That being said, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing yet again on Friday night going into Saturday, which has the potential to create further problems out on the roads.

Arne Slot's side will go into the clash with Accrington as the overwhelming favourites thanks to their home advantage and the 86 places separating them in the football pyramid. However, Stanley come into the match on a high, having been victorious on the road in their last match - beating Colchester United 2-0 in League Two.
However, away from Merseyside, it is expected that the sub-zero temperatures across country could threaten a number of other third round ties. And, already, tomorrow's Sky Bet League Two fixture between Carlisle United and MK Dons at Brunton Park has been postponed, while Oldham Athletic's clash against Eastleigh has also fallen foul of the weather.
