Caoimhin Kelleher makes his first start of the season for Liverpool today.

The Republic of Ireland international could look to leave the club in January, with Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili arriving from Valencia in a deal worth up to £29m next summer.

But Kelleher will hope to help the Reds keep a clean sheet today.

Chelsea up to second

14:48 , Jamie Dickenson

Chelsea have leapfrogged Liverpool into second after a 3-0 victory over West Ham this lunch-time.

Two goals from Nicholas Jackson and one from Cole Palmer secured a comprehensive away win for Enzo Maresca’s side.

The Reds can overtake them with a win and even top the table ahead of Manchester City if they triumph by three goals.

Reds dominant over Cherries

14:40 , Jamie Dickenson

Liverpool’s recent form against Bournemouth has been good, having won all three matches between the two sides last season.

The Reds won this fixture 9-0 in August 2022, while the Cherries have never recorded a victory at Anfield.

They did manage a 2-2 draw on Merseyside in 2017 though, thanks to goals from Benik Afobe and Josh King.

Three Bournemouth changes

Bournemouth have made three changes from the side that lost 1-0 to Chelsea last time out.

Kepa Arrizabalaga replaces Mark Travers in goal, while Dean Huijsen and Julian Araujo come in at the back with Marcos Senesi and Adam Smith dropping to the bench

Nunez gets his first start under Slot

14:07

Darwin Nunez has been handed his first Liverpool start under Arne Slot.

The Uruguayan had been a victim of the new manager’s approach, being used as a substitute in his first five games in charge.

However, Slot has seen fit to name Nunez in his starting line-up for the visit of Bournemouth, with Diego Jota dropping to the bench.

Caoimhin Kelleher does indeed come in for Alisson in goal, with the Brazilian not fit enough to make the bench.

Federico Chiesa may hope for more minutes off the bench today after a very brief cameo midweek in Italy.

Slot has moved on from Zubimendi

13:44

Arne Slot insists Liverpool have moved on from Martin Zubimendi after he rejected a switch to Anfield this summer.

The Reds have been linked with a January move for the midfielder after reports suggested he regretted his decision to stay at Real Sociedad.

But Slot said: “If you’ve noticed it is not that much of one holding midfielder, it is a bit more two.

“And one of those two can be a bit more attacking and I think the player you mentioned [Zubimendi] could have fitted in one of those two roles and Ryan [Gravenberch] can fit in both roles like Curtis [Jones] can, [Alexis] Mac Allister can and Wataru [Endo] can.

“There is no point talking about Zubimendi anymore because he stayed with Real Sociedad and we’ve moved on and we are really happy with Ryan.”

Zubimendi regret

Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi reportedly regrets rejecting a summer move to Liverpool and has asked the Reds to make a fresh approach for him.

Liverpool triggered Zubimendi's £52million release clause during the transfer window only to see the player opt to stay at his boyhood club.

According to reports at the time, Zubimendi had told Liverpool he would join only to change his mind following talks with club manager Imanol Alguacil.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth prediction

12:57 , Jamie Dickenson

Liverpool’s defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend surprised everyone but they got back to winning ways midweek against AC Milan.

Before that the Reds had been flawless beating Manchester United, Brentford and Ipswich without conceding a goal.

It would be a major surprise to see Liverpool lose two games at Anfield in a row, particularly given Bournemouth’s patchy form.

They were somewhat unlucky to lose at home to Bournemouth last time out, but did win 3-2 on their last trip to Merseyside against Everton.

An EFL Cup defeat to West Ham came after successive draws with Newcastle and Forest.

It may be tight but we expect Arne Slot’s side to have too much for the Cherries here.

Liverpool to win, 2-1.

Bournemouth team news vs Liverpool today

Bournemouth will be without Tyler Adams but could welcome back Dango Ouattara for their trip to Liverpool today.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is available for selection again having been ineligible to play against his parent club Chelsea last weekend.

The Cherries’ £40million summer signing Evanilson is expected to start up front as he looks for his first goal for the club.

Liverpool team news vs Bournemouth today

12:46

Liverpool could be without goalkeeper Alisson for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth today.

The Brazilian international is struggling with a minor muscle complaint and could miss the game at Anfield as a result.

Slot, meanwhile, has urged caution in regards to Federico Chiesa.

The Italian international made a brief debut for the club during Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over AC Milan in the Champions League and is in contention to make his Premier League bow against the Cherries.

Still, having barely featured since Italy’s Euro 2024 campaign, Chiesa needs to build up his fitness.

“Federico Chiesa will be a big asset for us,” said the Reds boss.

“That's clear, that's what we knew before we signed him

“He needs playing minutes now but he has competition from some good wingers as well.”

Harvey Elliott remains out having sustained a fractured foot earlier this month.

Liverpool predicted XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Jota
