Liverpool vs Fulham

17:03

Liverpool extend their Premier League unbeaten run to 11 matches, coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Fulham at Anfield despite playing for 73 minutes with just 10 men. The visitors took the advantage both on the score sheet and numerically on the pitch by the 20th minute, with Robertson sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity just six minutes after Pereira gave Silva’s side the lead. Boldly, Slot did not make changes after the sending off, keeping his side the same, which eventually bore results - with Gakpo heading home from close range less than 120 seconds after the restart to restore parity. An increasingly stretched match as it wore on, Fulham looked to find the winner with less than a quarter-hour remaining, through Muniz’s inventive finish, but two substitutes would combine four minutes before full-time to once again equalise, with Nunez supplying Jota with the key pass. A match that could have been won by either side ends with honours even, despite Liverpool leading the way in xG (2.31 to 1.11). The Reds stay top of the table ahead of matches against Southampton on Wednesday and Tottenham on Sunday in the League Cup and Premier League respectively. Fulham climb into ninth and take on Southampton in eight days. That concludes our commentary of the Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Fulham - we hope you’ve enjoyed it!

FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-2 FULHAM

Liverpool vs Fulham

17:02

Since the start of last season, only Manchester City (38) have won more points from losing positions than Liverpool (36) in the Premier League, with the Reds losing just five of their last 27 matches when they’ve trailed (W10 D12). Meanwhile, of all ever-present Premier League sides in the last two seasons, only Everton (eight) have picked up fewer points from losing positions than Fulham (11).

Traore picks up possession inside Liverpool’s penalty area, shifting the ball onto his right foot - leaving Gomez on the ground in the process - before hitting a driven shot that’s parried by Alisson.

Elliott’s inswinging corner is met by a combination of Cuenca and Quansah, with a potentially dangerous deflection putting the ball right into the path of a grateful Leno on his goal-line.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:57

Elliott sends his outswinging corner above the crowd on the penalty spot, with Salah bringing it down on the far side. His volley is blocked from close range by a well-placed Iwobi, who manages to put it out of play before requiring a stoppage for deflecting the ball with a very sensitive area.

Salah dances past Robinson before playing a one-two pass with Elliott on the edge of the penalty area. The return-pass from the substitute is hit with a bit too much power however, with Salah struggling to keep it in play; forced to hook a low, harmless cross to the near post for Leno to gather.

ELLIOTT GOES JUST WIDE! Fulham fail to clear their lines convincingly, with Robinson scuffing the ball away after poking it from the foot of Salah on the penalty spot. Elliott gathers it again and puts it on his left foot before curling a beautiful effort to the far post, missing the corner of the goal by the smallest of margins!

Liverpool have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven Premier League matches - winning six of them - since a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on October 5. Liverpool have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven Premier League matches - winning six of them - since a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on October 5. It looks likely they’ll find another here, even though they’re down to 10 men, with the match continuing to stretch.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:40

Alexander-Arnold whips a cross to the far post with his weaker left foot, but Robinson is in a great position to usher the ball out of play ahead of Salah, who is unable to attack the delivery.

Diaz pulls a low cross back to the edge of the penalty area for Salah, who requires a few touches to round Cuenca before hitting an off-balance left-footed strike that misses Leno’s target.

SALAH BLAZES WIDE! Pereira’s outswinging corner to the near post is missed by the outstretched leg of Iwobi, allowing Liverpool to burst forward on a rapid counter. Szoboszlai leads the way through the heart of midfield before playing it out to his right for Salah, whose first-time shot with the left boot is sent into the side-netting!

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:29

Lukic has a go at goal from 18 yards away, getting the ball out of his feet quick enough to send his shot off Alexander-Arnold and behind for a Fulham corner-kick.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:27

Iwobi finds Robinson in room once again on the left wing, but the United States international looks to go for goal himself this time, chipping a shot over Alisson, who had strayed off his line. It’s an audacious attempt from the full-back, but he gets his angles wrong and sends his shot wide of the far post.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:24

Iwobi plays Robinson into acres of space down the left wing, with the full-back using every inch afforded to him to get into the penalty area, but Wilson is unable to volley his close-range finish past Alisson, sending his chance wide of the near post after Robinson’s cross.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:23

Slot is also shown a yellow card in the aftermath of Jones’ tackle, with the Liverpool coach not happy with the performance of the referee. He is also shown a yellow while inside his technical area, which means he will be suspended from the touchline for the Reds’ next game.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:21

Yellow Card Curtis Julian Jones

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:21

The match is becoming stretched as we approach the hour, with Gomez striding forward from his position at centre-back to the edge of Fulham’s penalty area. With options to his right, the defender looks to have a rare go at goal himself, forcing Leno into a routine save at his near post.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:18

After attempting to carry on, it appears Tete will be unable to see out the remainder of the game following his collision with Gomez. He’s making his way to the touchline very slowly, with the help of a member of staff, while Castagne is sent on in his place.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:17

Salah looks to slide a pass through the heart of the defence for both Gakpo and Diaz, but Leno is quick out of his penalty area in a flash, putting the ball out for a throw to buy his side more time to reorganise.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:17

A coming-together inside the penalty area just before Gakpo’s shot sees both Gomez and Tete stay down in some pain, with the Fulham full-back seemingly worse off. The pair climb to their feet eventually after being looked at by the medical teams, with Tete telling the referee a foul should have been called in the build-up to Liverpool’s goal; a stance Tony Harrington does not agree with.

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:13

Szoboszlai puts the ball between the legs of Berge in midfield with skill before spreading play out to the left for Gakpo. Looking to hit twice in two minutes, the Netherlands international cuts inside and hits a shot on his left foot, but it’s an easy save for the Fulham goalkeeper.

Liverpool get the match restarted from the kick-off!

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:54

After opting against making a substitution in the first half despite going down to 10 men, Slot will have a number of opportunities to try and change the game from the bench. Already behind, Liverpool will have no qualms about throwing players forward, and could call upon the unpredictable Nunez or Jota to try and add more goal scorers at the top end of the pitch. Quansah could also be brought on to add stability to the back line - providing a platform from which to attack - while also being a value added at set-pieces. Fulham will be desperate to maintain the three points which could potentially see them go fifth in the table, and could introduce Castagne to add legs defensively on the flank, while Traore will be waiting for his opportunity to stretch the match with his pace late on.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:54

Fulham take a 1-0 lead into the half-time interval at Anfield, with 10-man Liverpool still searching for a way back into the contest after an early sending off. A match of very little rhythm and structure, both sides committed a number of fouls - especially early - which prevented any kind of momentum. The visitors managed to get their noses in front after just 11 minutes, with Pereira tucking home his flying volley from close range following a Robinson cross. Things would go from bad to worse for the hosts minutes later, when Robertson’s poor touch and ensuing challenge forced the referee to give him his marching orders with just over a quarter-hour played. Slot’s side struggled to create from that point, despite keeping possession well, with a pair of glancing headers the closest they came to troubling Leno. Silva’s team could have doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark if not for manful defending from Gomez, whose key block prevented Alisson from being called into action from close range. Leading in both the score and in xG (0.56 to 0.52), Fulham are on track to beat Liverpool for the first time since March, 2021.

Liverpool vs Fulham

HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 0-1 FULHAM

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:48

The fourth official indicates six minutes will be added to the end of the half for stoppages.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:48

Alexander-Arnold’s outswinging corner to the near post from the right flag is beaten away by Robinson, before the referee blows his whistle - indicating the ball had gone out of play before coming back in - which ends the move.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:43

Slot has opted against reshuffling his pack immediately after the red card, with Liverpool looking to maintain a back three with the defenders remaining. Gakpo and Szoboszlai will look to assist defensively on that side when not in possession, while Jones and Gravenberch will be expected to screen the back line with even more tenacity.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:43

OPPORTUNITY SQUANDERED! Salah draws two defenders towards him on the right wing before laying a pass off to Szoboszlai, who meets the ball with a first-time cross to the six-yard box. Unmarked, Gakpo is there and gets his head to the delivery but he can’t hit the target, sending his chance over the crossbar disappointingly!

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:42

Liverpool register their first shot on target after 40 minutes, but it’s a tame effort that fails to trouble Leno, with Gakpo putting his glancing header from an Alexander-Arnold cross right into the path of the awaiting Fulham goalkeeper.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:40

Iwobi drags his side up the pitch, charging unimposed down the left flank, but his low, pulled-back cross to the edge of the 18-yard box is intercepted easily by the awaiting Gakpo.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:37

Alexander-Arnold hits a flat delivery from his corner-kick on the right, but unfortunately, no team-mate is there to attack the back post, allowing Jimenez to dribble it out of his area coolly.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:36

The referee goes over to have a word with Tete and Gomez, who got involved in a bit of a shoving match in midfield. There seems to be quite a bit of edge and needle in this match, with a foul coming on average once every five minutes.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:34

Gakpo cuts inside from the left and teases an inviting cross to the edge of the six-yard box for the leaping Diaz, but Diop rises highest and clears his lines for the fourth time today - the most of any player.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:33

GOMEZ WITH THE BLOCK! Robinson is once again allowed to get down the left wing, but this time he pulls a low cross back to the edge of the penalty area for Pereira. The forward lays it off with a lovely backheel flick for Wilson, whose first-time effort from 12 yards out is blocked at close range by a sliding Gomez!

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:31

There have been more cards shown than shots in the first 30 minutes, with the two teams combining for five bookings and just four shots. Fulham lead the way with three efforts - including the only strike on target so far in the match - and have produced a marginally better xG than Liverpool (0.18 to 0.04).

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:28

Pereira’s inswinging corner is put directly into the six-yard box towards Berge, but Alisson makes a clean catch near his own goal-line.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:27

Yellow Card Antonee Robinson

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:24

Pereira and Wilson work a short-corner routine but it fails to come off, with the former’s eventual cross blocked, before Robinson’s follow-up effort is put directly behind for a goal-kick.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:23

SO CLOSE! Wilson steps up and whips his free-kick up and over the wall, but curls his effort just above Alisson’s crossbar - with the goalkeeper flying across his line anyway to cover his angles!

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:23

After a lengthy chat with VAR, it appears Wilson maintained an onside position during the initial pass, which means the passage of play is valid. Robertson is given his marching orders, with Liverpool forced to play the remainder of the game with 10 men, and Fulham are given a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the penalty area.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:21

There are discussions being had between the referee and his VAR team, as there was also a potential offside in the build-up, which would potentially erase Robertson’s red card. If Wilson was unable to hold his line, there’s the possibility Liverpool will be able to keep 11 men on the pitch - but it’s a slim chance.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:18

Fulham have now scored the first goal in five of their last six games including today, and have gone on to secure seven points as a result. It’s the second time in-a-row Liverpool have conceded the first goal in the Premier League, but they did manage to pull back a 3-3 draw against Newcastle.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:06

Robertson is able to eventually limp off gingerly, with the medical team continuing to take a look at the left-back on the touchline. He appears to be determined to re-enter the match despite the knock, with Liverpool carrying on with 10 in the meanwhile.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:33

Fulham have been impressive since their 4-1 loss at the hands of Wolves in late November, earning hard-fought draws with both Tottenham and Arsenal either side of a comprehensive 3-1 win over Brighton. Sitting comfortably in midtable, three points ahead of both Spurs and Newcastle United in the standings, Marco Silva’s 10th-placed team can afford to look forward instead of back, with Nottingham Forest in fifth just two points away.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:33

Liverpool’s seven-game winning run in all competitions came to an end 10 days ago, as Arne Slot’s side followed up their 2-0 victory over Manchester City with a 3-3 draw at Newcastle United. Still first in the table and four points ahead of second-placed Chelsea - having played a match fewer - the Reds got back to winning ways in midweek Champions League action, beating Girona 1-0, to maintain their perfect start in Europe.
