Liverpool vs Leicester fog and weather latest as advice issued to fans heading to Anfield
A thick fog has enveloped Merseyside on Boxing Day with Liverpool taking on Leicester City in the Premier League at 8pm UK time (3pm ET). Tranmere Rovers' clash with Accrington Stanley was postponed earlier in the day following a pitch inspection from the referee less than an hour before kick-off.
With the Merseyside derby having been called off a couple of weeks ago due to a storm causing dangerous conditions for fans traveling to Goodison Park, it would be far from ideal for Arne Slot and his side to miss another match. But the plan as things stand is for the game to take place.
The official "LFC Help" account on X/Twitter has advised supporters who are attending the fixture to allow more time to get to the stadium because of the foggy conditions. Visibility is low across the city, including around Anfield, which could lead to slower traffic.

"I think the positive [for Leicester] is that teams that are positioned in the lower side of the league table, they mostly lose games, but since Ruud [van Nistelrooy] is there, they also won a few," Slot told reporters while previewing the game in his pre-match press conference.
"So that shows you that he has done really well, especially when he came in. Now I think he had two tough results in a row. These teams, all of them, it is special for them to go to Anfield and they know if they go to Anfield they have to be at their best, so they will never underestimate us.
"And, hopefully, maybe that’s the good thing about these 15 minutes we saw [on Sunday], that we understand we cannot underestimate one minute in the Premier League because then we are not as good as we might think we are if we are on top of our game."
Liverpool.com says: With a game in hand already for Liverpool to play and a packed schedule, the Reds will not want another match in hand. It's going to be hard enough to find a suitable time to play the Everton match without adding another one into the mix.
