After suffering a fourth defeat in a row, things don't get easier for Man United as they face fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

A 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United extended United's losing streak to four games across all competitions in their last outing, with Ruben Amorim's side failing to score in their last three games. Next up for United is a trip to Anfield to take on league leaders Liverpool, with United hopeful not to get off to a losing start in 2025.

The last time Amorim's side won away against Liverpool came back in 2016, meaning it's been almost exactly nine years since a taste of victory at Anfield. Bruno Fernandes will return from suspension for the Liverpool clash, while Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, and Victor Lindelof are the only guaranteed absences.

Liverpool vs Man United Premier League score predicted

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

We predict that United could set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez; Mazraoui, Mainoo, Ugarte, Dalot; Amad, Fernandes; Hojlund.

Liverpool were in full control from minute one at Anfield, and they almost took the lead in the 12th minute when a one-two saw Alexis Mac Allister break through on goal, but his driven shot at the near post was well saved by Andre Onana. The early chances gave the hosts confidence, and in the 20th minute, Slot's side went ahead.

After some patience build-up play, Trent Alexander-Arnold took aim from range, with his shit deflecting just wide of the post and out for a corner. The Englishman's resulting cross into the box was flicked on at the front post by Virgil van Dijk, with Salah open at the back post to tap into an empty net after peeling away from Harry Maguire.

Despite seeing little of the ball, United almost levelled the score moments after conceding, with Amad's deflected cross looping over the outstretched Alisson and onto the crossbar. Amorim's side started to grow into the game as half-time approached, but as they pushed forwards, they left themselves exposed at the back.

A turnover in possession allowed Liverpool to hit United on the break, with Cody Gakpo leading a five-on-two counterattack. Gakpo found Luis Diaz in the middle who threaded a pass through to Salah, and the forward shifted the ball past Onana before tapping home to make it 2-0.

With a two-goal lead, Liverpool produced a much more controlled performance in the second half as they limited United to little of the ball, and it made for gruesome viewing as Amorim's side fell to a fifth consecutive defeat and a fourth game in a row without a goal.
