Liverpool wonderkid sold for £15m sends four-word message after scoring for seventh-tier club
Former Liverpool wonderkid Jordon Ibe has taken just a week to score his first goal for seventh-tier side Hungerford Town after joining the Southern League Premier Division South last week. The winger came off the bench to score in the Crusaders’ 3-0 win over Chertsey Town on Tuesday night.
The 29-year-old dinked the ball over the goalkeeper after racing through on goal in stoppage-time to wrap up a convincing win in what was only his second appearance for the club.
He had previously come on as a 72nd minute substitute to make his debut in a 1-0 victory over Havant and Waterlooville last weekend.

Taking to Instagram after opening his account for the club, a gleeful Ibe posted a quick video of himself on the Bulpit Lane pitch accompanied by the caption: ‘First goal of many’.
After joining Hungerford last week, Ibe said: It is an honour to Hungerford Town for taking me in and believing in my dream.
"It is time to buckle down and show the ability that I still have. With hard work, it can take you anywhere."
Bursting onto the scene with Wycombe Wanderers as a teenager, Ibe made his debut for the club and scored his first professional goal as a 15-year-old before joining Liverpool in a £500k deal in December 2011.
Progressing through the club’s academy, he made his Reds debut on the final day of the 2012/13 Premier League season - when still only 17 - as he set up Philippe Coutinho for the only goal of the game against Queens Park Rangers.
Impressing on loan at Birmingham City and Derby County in the second half of the 2013/14 and first half of the 2014/15 campaign, the forward was recalled by Brendan Rodgers before becoming a regular in the Liverpool first team squad.
However, following Jurgen Klopp’s first season in 2015/16 - in which he made 41 appearances and scored four goals - Ibe was sold to AFC Bournemouth in a £15m deal. The Reds included a buyback clause in the transfer, but never came close to activating it as he ultimately struggled with the Cherries.
Released by the Cherries at the end of his contract in the summer of 2020, Ibe went on to re-join Derby County that September. However, he made only one appearance for the Rams and revealed that he was suffering with depression and described himself as being in a "dark place" the following January.
Going on to sign for Turkish second tier side Adanaspor in January 2022, he signed a three-and-a-half year contract but left the club a few months later without ever making an appearance.
After a year out of the game, he made a return with National League side Ebbsfleet United in October 2023, but was released at the end of the season after only making three appearances.
Ibe then signed for Hayes and Yeading United last October and made 10 appearances for the club, scoring one goal, before leaving by mutual consent at the end of November.
The 29-year-old made 58 appearances for Liverpool, returning four goals and six assists, and had been tipped to become a star player for the Reds, only for his career to ultimately not pan out as originally hoped.
But now making his latest return to the game with Hungerford, less than nine years after leaving Anfield in a £15m deal, Ibe will hope that he can finally get his career back on track after a difficult number of years, with his first goal for the seventh tier club in only his second appearance acting as a step in the right direction.
