Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons and there is an openness from the Bundesliga club to sell the 21-year-old in the summer, according to recent reports.

BILD reporter Christian Falk has suggested that Die Roten Bullen are willing to sanction an exit in the region of €70million (£58m) to €80million (£66m). It comes in a bizarre twist surrounding the Dutch international, who only completed a permanent switch to Red Bull Arena for €50million (£41m) on Thursday morning.

It was confirmed that Leipzig had made his temporary spell in Germany permanent after a fruitful loan. The 21-year-old has 15 goals and 19 assists in 60 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, with five efforts coming in 17 outings, across all competitions, so far this term.

According to reports, Manchester United, Man City and the Reds will observe his situation as his new terms in Leipzig are only until 2027. Following the confirmation of his move, Simons said: "I've always said that I feel extremely at home in Leipzig and that I'm honoured by the appreciation shown towards me by the club.

"Over the coming weeks and months, I will be able to freely pursue our joint aims of qualifying for the Champions League for the seventh straight season, and of reaching the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin – those are the only things that matter right now."

Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa has sensationally squashed the suggestion that he is unhappy and wants to end his Liverpool stay prematurely. The Italian has been the topic of reports that he wantsaway from Merseyside despite only joining from Juventus in the summer.

The 27-year-old managed his first 90 minutes for Arne Slot's side since his arrival and showed encouraging signs during Wednesday's 3-2 defeat to PSV Eindhoven.

Speaking after the encounter, he sensationally shut down reports amid links with Napoli.

"I want to play for Liverpool! I want to be here and do my best for this club," said Chiesa. "Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world and the fanbase is just amazing. Playing at Anfield gives me shivers."
