Liverpool have seen their gap at the top of the Premier League cut down to four points after Arsenal's victory against Leicester City. Arne Slot's side drew their game in hand against Everton earlier this week and the Gunners have responded to that with two late goals at King Power Stadium.

With Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz joining Bukayo Saka on the injury list, Mikel Arteta was forced to field Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri as his front three. The latter was particularly impressive and it was his cross that was headed home by super-sub Mikel Merino.

The Spaniard then scored a second after side-footing a Trossard cross past Mads Hermansen to seal the win. With Liverpool not in action until Sunday afternoon, where Wolves are the visitors to Anfield, Arsenal have given themselves some renewed title hope.

With that being said, The Echo has taken a look at the fixtures awaiting both teams as the title race heats up.

Liverpool next five Premier League fixtures

February 16 vs Wolves (H) at 2pm

February 20 vs Aston Villa (A) at 7:30pm

February 23 vs Manchester City (A) at 4.30pm

February 26 vs Newcastle (H) at 8.15pm

March 8 vs Southampton (H) at 3pm

Verdict: Liverpool have a number of challenging Premier League fixtures in quick succession before the March international break.

Just four days on from the home clash against Wolves, Liverpool make the trip to the Midlands to face Aston Villa in a game that has been brought forward from next month due to their Carabao Cup final participation. Slot and his players are back on their travels that weekend when they face Premier League champions Manchester City.

Back-to-back home games against Newcastle and Southampton are then on the calendar, but there is a significant gap between the two with the first weekend of March for FA Cup fifth round ties which will mean Liverpool have an extended break after four games in 10 days.
