'We’ll see' - Virgil van Dijk responds after Jordan Henderson Liverpool contract message
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has agreed with Jordan Henderson that he could play at the top level for a few more years as speculation surrounding his future continues. Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract at the end of the season and it is unclear whether they will remain at the club beyond this season.
Only Salah has spoken publicly about a new deal, insisting that he wants to remain at Anfield for the foreseeable. Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold have chosen to keep contract talks private.
At 33, Van Dijk represents one of the older players not only in the Liverpool squad but the Premier League. This has led some to question whether Liverpool see a new deal for the Dutchman as being financially savvy.

However, this season, the Dutchman has been ever-present for Arne Slot and there is a consensus among supporters that Van Dijk should be offered a new contract no matter what. Among those to agree with this stance is former Liverpool captain Henderson who said: "I feel like Virgil could play until 39, 40 if he wanted to.
"So, for me if they give him a contract for two, three, four years it would be a pretty good bit of business for the club." When those comments were put towards the central defender, Van Dijk backed himself to match Henderson's expectations.
"Yeah, I could play definitely in my opinion as well for another three or four years at least on the highest level," he replied. "So, we’ll see what the future brings."
Van Dijk's admission came after Henderson said the top priority of his old club should be to tie the Dutchman down to a new contract. Liverpool return to action tonight when they host Leicester City at Anfield. A victory could move them seven points clear at the top of the table depending on other results.
