Local boxer set for homecoming fight as he prepares for second pro bout
A Pembrokeshire boxer will have the second fight of his professional career on home soil next month.
Ioan Croft is set to fight at Vale Arena, Cardiff on March 1.
The Croft twin is coming off a successful debut in Waterford, Ireland where he stopped his opponent in the first round on December 7, 2024.
Ioan said: “I’m very excited to get back in the ring. I’ve got a bit more time to prepare than Garan. I feel I’m ready now but I’m staying strong. On the night, I’ll be flying.
“This is the first time I’ve boxed in Wales since 2021 so it will be nice to fight here. I’ve already sold over 100 tickets. It will be electric on the night, and I plan to put on a show.
“I would like to pick up a few rounds under my belt this time. But if I hurt my opponent early on, I will have to go for the finish. My fans are brilliant. They had a long weekend last time and they are in for another good one this time.”
Ioan’s fight will broadcast on BBC 2 Wales and BBC iPlayer.
Meanwhile, Ioan’s twin, Garan will fight on February 1 on the undercard of Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets at Wembley Arena, London.
Like Ioan, Garan picked up a first-round stoppage in his debut.
The Croft twins competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, with Ioan capturing a gold medal and Garan medalling bronze.
They are both trained by former Lightweight World Champion, Anthony Crolla.
Outside the ring the Croft twins raised over £17,000 by auctioning a bespoke painting of themselves at Hotel Plas Hyfryd, Narberth on January 18.
The money will go towards supporting a fellow Pembrokeshire athlete in Mia Lloyd who is hoping to compete at the next Commonwealth and Paralympic Games.
Ioan and Garan Croft have previously spoken about the importance of giving back to their local community.
