UTILITY back Myles Harrison is the latest player to put pen to paper on a new deal with York Knights for 2025.

The 21-year-old missed the majority of last season with a shoulder injury that required surgery, but after a spell on the sidelines, will be keen to nail down a spot in Mark Applegarth’s side upon his return.

Harrison, who came through the ranks at Heworth, penned a professional deal with the Knights in 2021.

He made his debut for the club in the Betfred Challenge Cup against Wigan Warriors, going on to make a further two appearances that season.

The youngster’s breakthrough though came in 2023, where he made 24 appearances, scoring 10 tries and 18 goals, including a perfect display at Keighley Cougars and a performance beyond his years in their Challenge Cup quarter-final against Leigh Leopards.

Able to play at full-back, centre and on the wing, Applegarth is delighted to have retained Harrison’s services for another season.

He enthused: "Myles is another young player that I’m delighted has committed to York.

"He’s a York lad through and through. Just the other night I got him to get up in front of the group and speak about how much this club means to him. He speaks really well and you can see how much he wants to succeed here.

"I’m looking forward to working with him. He had a bit of a rough time last year with shoulder surgery, but he’s done pre-season so far and he’s looking well.

"I know he’s played a variety of positions, but I probably see him trying to get one of the centre spots nailed down. I’m not saying he can’t play elsewhere but he needs a set position he can focus on.

“I’m delighted we’ve got him for 2025."
