Louie Barry Aston Villa transfer warning sent as Unai Emery handed clear January advice
Aston Villa talent Louie Barry has a host of clubs chasing his signature, with one club reported to be ready to pay seven figures for him - but some Villa fans in the Birmingham Live comments section reckon it would be a mistake to part with Barry permanently, believing that he could be a star at Villa Park someday.
The 21-year-old has been recalled from Stockport County in League One, scoring 16 times in all competitions and making a point to step his career up another notch. Villa have reportedly offered him a new contract, but the top-flight club could cash-out to support reinforcements in their first-team.
Derby County and Middlesbrough have a keen interest in the ex-Barcelona starlet, but it's Scottish giants Celtic who could force their hand with a multi-million pound swoop. Brendan Rodgers and his squad are top of the Scottish Premiership, and Barry forcing his way into the first-team there would represent a step up for his profile.

Some fans are adamant that it should be another loan move only for Barry. Reader Chosen in 1957 says: "Louie cannot possibly be sold to Celtic or any other club. The sheer amount of clubs who desperately want to sign him show how much he's progressing and how much potential he has to improve at a higher level. Unai will make a decision soon that will benefit Louie and the club, but to sell him before we actually find out just how good he is would be a massive mistake."
Commenter TheMinstral writes: "There's two ways of looking at this, a financial gain, or financial loss. The gain will come if we keep him, because of the improvement he will bring. He is young, talented, scores goals, and with years of service to Aston Villa ahead of him.
"The loss will come when we buy another player using that money who is older and unproven in the PL and wants a three-year contract on supersonic wages, who then sits on that contract when it's found he doesn't fit in."
Birminghamisclaretandblue says: "If Kellyman and Chukwuemeka fetched £20m+ then Louie is the same, if not more. Celtic cannot give us anywhere near this, and Scottish football is no better than League 1, so send him back to Stockport and let his price rise until the summer."
Others see a transfer opportunity. Smashed says: "A great young lad who has a massive future either with Villa or elsewhere, huge profit again if he leaves and an incredible prospect if he stays - but either way it's a huge win-win scenario for the club."
Morrison123 agrees: "Yeah he drifted for a few seasons - and he didn't seem to improve - but has had a great first half of a season with Stockport. He's nowhere near the first team of a PL club, and young players need game-time not bench time. I would sell with a buy back clause or loan him to a Championship side that can give him first-team football.
"Either way, I'm glad he's improving and we are using the youth academy, which we've always had, I can remember when they beat the first-team 3-1 some years back. But we just let these players fade and disappear.
Crazycat1 writes: "If he doesn't sign the contract we've offered him, then sell him. I would like him to sign then go on loan to a top Championship team, he won't get to play much for us at the moment and he needs to be playing regularly at a good level."
