Leeds United are among the majority of Championship clubs that have yet to make a signing during the first week of the winter transfer window this January.

However, an increasing number of teams, including multiple promotion rivals of Leeds, appear to be closing in on completing their first moves of the month. Daniel Farke 's side, meanwhile, continues being linked with several players, from Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies to Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Boro have also yet to make a move, but the three clubs directly above them in the table either have or appear primed to do so. Here is a round-up of the latest transfer news and reports around those teams: Burnley, Sheffield United and Sunderland.

Burnley

Of the trio below Leeds, the Clarets are the only ones who have made their first signing(s) of the window. They moved quickly to sign right-back Oliver Sonne from Silkeborg for a reported £2.5million transfer fee on New Year's Eve.

Two days later, they announced Ashley Barnes' return on a free transfer from Norwich City, with the striker going straight into the squad for last weekend's East Lancashire derby with Blackburn Rovers. Sonne could not feature after carrying over a suspension for yellow card accumulation from the Danish Superliga but should be able to debut against Reading in the FA Cup third round.

Sheffield United

Blades boss Chris Wilder has acknowledged that the club is confident they will have made their first signing for their next Championship match, ideally by the start of next week. Southampton forward Ben Brereton Diaz and Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury are two players Wilder mentioned.

A replacement for the injured Harry Souttar is also said to be high on their list. Aston Villa forward Louie Barry is another name they and Leeds have been linked with, but Derby County and Hull City are also reputedly interested. The latter are understood to be increasingly confident, but the South London Press now reports that Milwall are keen, too.

Sunderland

The Black Cats have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Roma midfielder Enzo Le Fee on loan for the remainder of this season. Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris worked with the midfielder previously at Lorient before the former France youth international left his homeland for the Italian club when they spent the best part of £20million on the midfielder six months ago.

Le Fee is also said to have suitors in Spain, namely Seville, from Real Betis and Sevilla. However, reports now claim he's on his way to Wearside for a reunion with Le Bris.
