Louisville native Justin Thomas caps WM Phoenix Open 2025 with walk-off eagle on 18

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale is all about the closing holes. On Sunday, Louisville native Justin Thomas showed exactly why that stretch can be so exciting at the WM Phoenix Open.

Here's how:

On the par-5 13th, Thomas hit his third to about seven feet and made a birdie putt.

On the challenging par-4 14th, which played 476 yards on Sunday, be bombed a drive 350 yards, hit an approach to 9 ½ feet and made a second straight birdie putt.

The St. Xavier grad birdied the final par 5 of the day, the 15th, before making bogey at the raucous 16th, a hole that he birdied on Friday.

On the strategic par-4 17th, Thomas was short and right of the green and chipped on to about 2 feet then rolled in a fourth birdie in his last five holes.

That would be the last time he needed his putter this week, because on the par-4 18th hole, after a 325-yard drive, he overshot the cup from 102 yards, but drew the ball back and it found the bottom of the cup for an eagle.

"It was great. I felt like I played a lot of great golf and did a lot of really good things this week, and I feel like we kind of deserved that. I didn't get much out of it and was plotting along, and unfortunately I started to hit my hot streak right when the week was over, but obviously proud of the finish and happy with a really good week," he said after his round, a 6-under 65, his best round of the week.
