'I love Everton, but' - Gary Lineker can't hide true feelings in brutal on-air introduction
There can't have been many Evertonians tuning in to Match of the Day on Saturday night. Those who did would've at least had some words from former player Gary Lineker to comfort them, who seemed to be feeling the same pain.
The Blues failed to muster a single shot on target in a dismal 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday. It means they are still stranded on three wins from 19 games this season and have failed to score in eight of their last 10 matches.
After an encouraging spell in December of three draws and a win, the Toffees have now been limp in back-to-back defeats. Nerves are starting to jangle at the start of a new year as a result.

They are now perilously close to the bottom three and their position was worsened on Sunday when Ipswich Town grabbed a draw at Fulham. Everton are 16th in the standings and are just a point above the relegation zone.
Introducing the highlights from the game, Lineker was unable to hide his dismay at the form of the team in addition to the tedious style of play.
"Everton though, boy," said the exasperated former Everton striker. "Their last 10 games – they’ve failed to score in eight of them, and to be perfectly honest, but for Jordan Pickford, they'd be in deep trouble.
"I mean I love Everton, I really do, but boy oh boy, they're hard to watch at the moment."
The result puts more pressure on manager Sean Dyche, especially following the recent takeover of the club by The Friedkin Group.
After the poor display on the south coast, Everton now have three home games in succession coming up against Peterborough United in the FA Cup before Premier League tussles with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
