A lucky father-of-three has walked away from Plumpton racecourse with a life-changing amount of money after he chose to bet on a horse with a certain name. The dad won a five-figure sum on Monday on his last bet at the Sussex racecourse after punting on a series of outsiders at the course which, in a stunning twist of fate, all came through.

The Swindon native's bet was a treble on Serious Challenge in the 1:50pm race and long shots Miss Fedora and Dotties Star in the 2.20pm and 2.50pm races that all managed to cross the finishing line first, multiplying the punter's winnings into five figures. With the dad taking home a massive pot of cash, the placepot paid out a whopping £7,000 from just a £1 bet too.

That gambler had also placed a series of doubles and singles on the same horses which meant they went away with even more. Both were betting through Tote.co.uk, which allows punters to bet across multiple sections at their chosen racecourse.

The winner couldn't hide his joy as he shared his reasons for picking the winners. He said: "It's incredible to win such a big amount as I regularly have a flutter on a few outsiders with the Tote.

"I only had my last pick because I liked the name, Dotties Star - the name just hit me, and I knew that was going to be a winner. "It's great to do multiple bets with the Tote, as my dad did when we both went to the races together.
