LUCTONIANS Vixens narrowly lost out 29-18 at Kidderminster Carolians as they continue to sit strongly place in third position in NC3 Midlands (West), and have conceded the least points at home out of all teams.

The Vixens are in their second year in NC3, following a year in the Inner Warrior development league.

The Kingsland side are a dedicated group of women, going from strength to strength in a short amount of time.

They show massive commitment and teamwork, with numbers continuing to increase, ensuring an increasingly stable player base.

They are lucky to have five experienced coaches, each bringing a different area of expertise to training sessions, to ensure the teams develops in all areas of the game.

Luctonians have under-12, under-14 and under-16 girls sections to feed in to the Vixens. They train every Sunday and the under-16s have an extra session on Tuesday evenings, where some of the club’s Vixens help with the coaching, ensuring a strong and confident younger generation come through the ranks, of which four players have done so already.

The Vixens squad has players ranging from age 17 to 53. They promote inclusivity, where players of all backgrounds and experience levels can play, learn and support each other.

One of the club’s ultimate goals over coming years is to recruit enough players to have a women’s first and second team at Luctonians.

The growth of the team is not just reflected in the increasing number of players, but also in the skill development and success, with training designed to develop both individual players and the team.

The Vixens train on Tuesday between 7 and 8pm and Thursdays 6.45pm until 8pm at Mortimer Park.
