K.V.C. Westerlo's attacking players probably didn't expect to be competing with Luka Vuskovic in the race to be the club's top goalscorer. But that is exactly what has happened in the 2024/25 season so far.

Joining the Jupiler Pro League side on loan for the campaign ahead of linking up with Tottenham in the summer of 2025, the Croatian centre-back is really making waves in Belgium right now. Vuskovic ensured that he once again dominated the headlines on Boxing Day after scoring a sensational acrobatic effort in their 4-3 defeat away at Club Brugge.

It was some effort from the 17-year-old as he showed just what he can offer Tottenham in an attacking sense once he steps through the door at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Vuskovic remarkably now has six goals to his name in his 20 appearances for Westerlo this season.

He is currently level with Allahyar Sayyadmanesh and Matija Frigan in Westerlo's goalscoring charts in the league, with Frigan just ahead by one when you take cup competitions into consideration. You certainly wouldn't bet against Vuskovic registering double figures for goals by the time his spell in Belgium comes to an end.

Showcasing his eye for goal during his time with Radomiak Radom in the second half of last season as he scored three times in 14 games, the highly-rated centre-back has taken his goalscoring exploits to a whole new level this campaign. He is proving to be a huge weapon from set-pieces, with the Croat on the scoresheet in his previous game with a well-taken header in the 1-1 draw with KV Mechelen.

It is very much something Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham can benefit from when Vuskovic is wearing the white of Tottenham. Spurs have demonstrated that they know where the back of the net is after scoring 58 times across three competitions this season, with Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke currently leading the way with ten goals apiece.

The goals came from all across the pitch last season as defensive players such as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro contributed regularly. Romero had five goals to his name, Porro had four, Van de Ven chipped in with three and Destiny Udogie added two.

To date this season, Porro has two goals, Djed Spence has one and the same goes for Romero. As is the case for both Romero and Van de Ven, their numbers could be higher had they not already missed a chunk of the campaign through injury.

Radu Dragusin has now featured in more games than the duo this season but he is still waiting to net his first Tottenham goal. The Romanian proved during his time at Genoa that he can be a big asset from set-pieces due to his ability in the air, notably scoring five of his six Genoa goals with his head, but Tottenham are so far yet to see him make a real impact in the opposition box.

Although Tottenham have no problem scoring going on the numbers they have posted this season, a few more goals from defenders would certainly go down well and perhaps lighten the load on the attacking players. Once he is finally in a Tottenham shirt, Vuskovic will be looking to do exactly that and show everyone just how big a threat he is in and around the opposition penalty box.

If his start to life at Westerlo is anything to go by, Vuskovic could become a huge player for Tottenham in years to come.
