Those who manage to reach the second round but lose receive £15,000, while a third-round loser earns £25,000 and a fourth-round loser collects £35,000. The quarter-finalists receive £50,000 each, and the semi-finalists earn a whopping £100,000.
The winner secures a £500,000 payout, while the runner-up pockets £200,000. Luke Humphries won last year's world championship, defeating Littler in the final, but he crashed out of this year's competition in the fourth-round.
Also, any player who hits a nine-dart finish receives £60,000, which is matched by Paddy Power with a donation to Cancer Research UK. That said, only Christian Kist and Damon Heta have managed to achieve such feats so far.
