LUKE 'The Nuke' Littler will be feeling buoyed for Premier League Darts Night 3 in Ireland tonight after coming out on top in Scotland last week.

The defending champion survived a quarter-final scare against Rob Cross at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow , amazingly coming back from 5-1 down to win 6-5.

He then hammered Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals before edging out Night 1 winner Luke Humphries in a last-set decider to clinch his first trophy since being crowned world champion.

The 18-year-old Warrington superstar faces a fresh challenge at the 3Arena in Dublin, with Welsh ace Gerwyn Price being his first hurdle in the bid to achieve back-to-back maximum points.

They are due on stage for the second contest of the night at around 7.45pm.

Whoever wins that quarter-final, will go up against Luke Humphries or Stephen Bunting in the first semi-final.

Price squeezed past Littler 6-5 when the pair met in the quarter-finals of Player Championship 2 in Wigan last week.

Although Price has won the pair’s last four meetings - including wins at last month’s Bahrain Darts Masters and a clash on the PDC ProTour earlier in February - Littler heads to Dublin in confident mood.

“I know that I can pick up many more nightly titles,” insisted the world champion.

“Coming into last week I just wanted to win that first game and get some points on the board, and my confidence went through the roof after the comeback against Rob!

“It was important to build on the comeback and performance that I put in against Rob, and it was nice to not lose with a 110 average,” which was a reference to his defeat to Michael van Gerwen with a 113 average on Night 1 in Belfast.

The Thursday night rounds take place in the form of mini tournaments over 16 weeks in arenas across Europe in the race to win the £275,000 top prize at the O2 Arena in London at the end of May, with all the action being shown live on Sky Sports.

Each night will see quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final played over the best of 11 legs (first to six)

Players will face each other twice in quarter-final ties throughout the season, with the fixtures being balanced for players to be in opposite halves of the draw in an equal number of weeks

The fixtures for Night 8 and Night 16 will be based on the league table following Night 7 and Night 15 respectively

The top four players from the final league table will progress to the Play-Offs, which will feature the semi-finals over the best of 19 legs and the final over the best of 21 legs

The order of throw for all league night matches will be decided by a bull-off, which will be conducted beforehand in the practice room. For the Play-Offs, the semi-finals will see the higher-placed player from the final league table throw first, with a bull-off for the final.
