Luton boss sends 'horrible' message to Paul Warne as Derby County are stunned by late goals
Luton boss Rob Edwards admitted there was an element of luck about his side’s 2-1 victory over Derby County - and even took time out to sympathise with opposite number Paul Warne.
Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu’s deflected volley gave the hosts an 89th-minute leveller before Carlton Morris grabbed their added-time winner after Kayden Jackson’s smart header initially gave Derby the lead at Kenilworth Road.
And Edwards was the first to admit it had not been pretty when interviewed by Sky Sports after the game - but praised his side’s never-say-die attitude to claim a second comeback win in as many home games.

He said: “I’m a relieved manager at the moment, happy for sure but very relieved. I think it's credit to the lads. We're fighting at the moment, we're battling. It's not how we want it to look, but sometimes you go through these periods, so I've got to credit them.”
Late goals saw Luton beat Stoke City last time out at Kenilworth Road, and Edwards added: “We made changes, we had to make changes, and then we had to make a lot of subs too, and I thought quite brave ones, and they found a way.
“I don't think they were the prettiest of goals, you know, but we had a little bit of luck and, yeah, we found a way.
“I feel for Paul Warne in there. I know how it is - it's horrible for them, but it's a nice way to win it for us and it sends everyone home happy for Christmas.
“We had similar last time out against Stoke - a last minute winner - and it's great and it does give us some energy here now. But we've got to try and find some consistency.
“I think that's going to be hard at the moment for us with the people that are missing and with confidence levels as they are - the players are sort of fragile. But people can see that they're still fighting and giving us everything, and that's proven with the late winners in the last two home games.”
