Aston Villa have sent an offer to Sevilla for centre-back Loic Bade as Diego Carlos finalises a move to Fenerbahce.

The Brazilian is expected in Turkey shortly ahead of completing a move from Villa for a fee of around £8.5m. This was the last opportunity Villa have to recoup a reasonable amount for Carlos, who will turn 32 years of age in March and has 18 months left on his contract.

Now that Carlos is due to link up with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce, Villa are set to step up their efforts to sign Bade from Sevilla, who will sell at the price this in this window. Relevo claim that Villa's first offer doesn't meet the £21m which the Spanish club wants up front, but the overall package including add-ons does reach that amount. Their sporting director Vitor Orta will now ask for a bigger fixed fee.

They add that Villa are yet to open negotiations with the player as they want to strike a deal with Sevilla before making their move regarding a contract proposal. Villa's president of football operations Monchi signed Bade on loan for Sevilla in January 2023, before he joined permanently in June of that year.

Bade was close to joining Roma in the summer window, but he stayed put in Spain. He was rewarded with a call-up to the France national team in October after a strong start to the season with his club.

He made 28 league appearances last season, but has continued to improve this term despite Sevilla's struggles on the pitch. Garcia Pimienta's side currently sit in 13th place in the Spanish top-flight, just six points above the relegation zone.
