Major Patrick Dorgu decision confirmed before Man United medical as transfer delay explained
Patrick Dorgu has been included in the Lecce squad for Friday evening's relegation six-pointer against Parma, despite ongoing speculation around his proposed move to Manchester United.
Dorgu is set to move to Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window, but according to TBR Football, United have approved his request to be involved for Lecce against Parma. While Dorgu has started in each of Lecce's last 18 Serie A matches, he dropped down to the bench to face Parma - hinting that a move to United is edging ever closer.
But Dorgu was keen to at least be involved - whether to be from the start or the bench - so he could help Lecce in a gigantic game down the bottom of the Italian top-flight table. Lecce sit 18th in Serie A and inside the relegation zone, level on points with 16th-place Parma, having won just one of their last six fixtures. It's very tight down the bottom, with just two points separating Como in 13th and Lecce. Venezia, who are 19th, are four points worse off, while rock bottom Monza are seven adrift.

After Lecce's trip to Parma - which is a 7.45pm UK time kick-off - Dorgu is expected to fly over to England and undergo his medical ahead of completing a £30million move to United. With the transfer window closing at 11pm on Monday, United have got time to get the deal done but time is running out - and fast.
Dorgu has made 57 appearances for Lecce since joining them from Danish side Nordsjaelland in 2022 and has been capped four times by Denmark. And former teammate Fabio Lucioni, who played with Dorgu for a season before leaving Lecce in summer 2023, delivered his reaction to Dorgu's impending move to United.
He told TMW: "I would have already bought him a plane ticket. I say this in a positive sense, because he is a boy who has made an important journey in the youth sector.
"He has shown that he can compete in a higher level of football than the one you experience in Lecce. So it’s right that he goes."
