MALDON and Tiptree are looking for a new first-team manager following Brett Munyard's shock departure.

The Jammers have announced that they have parted company with Munyard, who only took over in the Park Drive hot seat in November.

The Pitching In Isthmian League division north side, who have an alliance with Colchester United, announced the news last night and will now look to appoint an interim boss, while they search for Munyard's permanent replacement.

Munyard made an excellent start to his spell in charge of Maldon, after taking over from Dave Huzzey in the role.

The former Brightlingsea Regent manager lifted them away from the relegation zone and up to 12th in the table, where they currently sit.

He led them on a nine-game unbeaten run before the Jammers were beaten 2-0 by Sporting Bengal United, on New Year's Day.

Writing on social media, Munyard said: 'Unfortunately my time at @MaldonTiptreeFC has come to an end..

'The team have been top drawer since I arrived and achieved all objectives set! The potential new owners are brilliant and I wish nothing but success for all involved All the best for the future'

In a club statement, Maldon and Tiptree said: "Maldon and Tiptree Football Club confirms that Brett Munyard will depart from his role as first team manager with immediate effect.

"We would like to thank Brett for his time, dedication and efforts during his tenure at the club, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

"The club will appoint an interim manager to oversee the team while a permanent appointment is being considered.

"Further updates will be provided in due course."

Writing on social media after the defeat to Sporting Bengal United, Munyard expressed his disappointment at the result.

He said: 'Rarely do I feel the need to say sorry over football performances but today was abysmal … come away from everything that’s made us successful and needs to be a huge reality check for everyone Boys have been first class since day one but today won’t be accepted'.

Last month, Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow confirmed that they have been in talks to buy Maldon and Tiptree FC and its 20-acre stadium site.
