Man City injury update: Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Josko Gvardiol latest news and return dates

Manchester City can not afford any more slip ups in the Premier League title race.

While dropping points by way of a draw against a team as packed full of talent as Chelsea is hardly a disaster, the standards Pep Guardiola’s side have helped set over the years make it very costly.

Indeed, Man City’s quest for an unprecedented fourth English title has been complicated by the stunning seasons Liverpool and Arsenal are also enjoying, creating a three-way race for the top prize.

Though it would be foolish to write City off, any slight drop off during the run-in could prove the end of their dream.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Man City injuries.

Kevin De Bruyne

Star man Kevin De Bruyne has enjoyed a stunning return to action of late after returning from a layoff caused by hamstring surgery.

The Belgian, however, missed the 1-0 win over Brentford on Tuesday due to an issue in the same area, as confirmed by the City boss.

“He has niggles in his hamstring area and I didn't want to take any risk with him,” Guardiola said.

“He's OK, he's OK, it was more about prevention. He said he didn't feel comfortable and the doctors said not to take a risk.”

Potential return date: February/March 2024

Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish has struggled to scale the heights he managed last season and was unfortunate to have suffered a muscle injury during the Champions League win over FC Copenhagen earlier this month.

Still, Guardiola is hopeful the issue is not too serious for the England winger.

“It’s not that much, not that worse than we expect,” he said. “Maybe 10 days, maybe three weeks, maybe a month. I think it’s less, so it’s good news.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Josko Gvardiol

Summer signing Josko Gvardiol has missed the last two games due to an ankle problem but Guardiola is again hopeful it is not a serious issue.

“Josko [will be] two weeks or three weeks,” Guardiola said earlier this month. “He has [a problem with a ligament] in his ankle,” said the City boss earlier this month.
