Man City injury update: Oscar Bobb, Nathan Ake and John Stones latest news and return dates
Signs of life are emerging at Manchester City.
After what was the worst run of results in Pep Guardiola’s storied managerial career, Man City appear to be on the up again.
City’s huge 6-0 win over Ipswich on Sunday sent the champions back into fourth in the Premier League table while extending their unbeaten run to six games.
Guardiola is confident City are getting back to their best, which is slightly ominous for the rest of the teams chasing Champions League qualification.
They have been helped by welcoming key players back from injury and it seems the good news is set to continue.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Manchester City injuries.
Oscar Bobb
Oscar Bobb hasn’t played a competitive minute this season but did recently return to training.
Last week, Guardiola said: “It's good news for us... I don't know [when he will be back], but it's not muscular. It was a bone, a fracture, and one that is already fixed, so it's fine. Now it's [his] physical condition.”
Potential return date: January/February 2025
Nathan Ake
Nathan Ake missed the win over Ipswich with an unspecified issue and no update was given after the game.
Potential return: Unknown
John Stones
Fellow defender John Stones hasn’t played since a foot injury forced him off during the loss to Aston Villa in December.
Guardiola has confirmed City will take a cautious approaching when easing the England defender back into action, such has been his struggles with injury all season.
“We have to take a little longer to be sure that when he comes back, he cannot make a step back,” confirmed the City boss last week.
Potential return date: Unknown
Rodri
Rodri underwent surgery on a serious knee injury back in September and is not expected back before the end of the season.
Potential return date: Summer 2025
