Man City legend expects club to make January transfer in key position
Sergio Aguero expects Manchester City to sign a midfielder in January to help revive their season.
The Blues started superbly but have lost their way horrible over the last six weeks, with just one win and eight defeats from their last 11 games. Pep Guardiola's squad have been badly hit by injuries, particularly in midfield and defence, with the manager reflecting last week that a bigger squad was probably necessary.
Guardiola has hinted at January business and with Ballon d'Or winner Rodri sidelined for the season and his best replacement Mateo Kovacic also missing chunks of the campaign with injury, City's midfield has lost its legs. With defensive injuries robbing City of solidity at the back, the Blues are finding that too many matches are being played on the terms of their opponents.

City have the money to spend in January, and their admiration of Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes is well known. Martin Zubimendi, who replaced Rodri for Spain in the final of the European Championship, could also be targeted but turned down a summer move to Liverpool.
Aguero, who is still the deadliest striker in Premier League history despite appearing to be forgotten in a recent list of the best to have played in the competition, expects midfield to be the area where City target in January. "The injuries of Rodri and Kovacic (less lengthy but still meaningful) have left that part of the field wanting. I'd assume that's where we'll likely see a new signing but I don't have a particular horse in the race," he told Stake.
