Man City make major transfer breakthrough for third deal of January window
Manchester City have made a breakthrough in transfer negotiations for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, paving the way for the forward to become their third signing of the January transfer window.
Eintracht were expecting to include Marmoush in their squad for Friday's Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund, however talks with City progressed on Thursday and the two clubs have now verbally agreed a fee for the Egyptian.
Marmoush scored his 20th goal of the season on Tuesday night and took his assist tally to 14 against Freiburg in what was his final appearance for Eintracht. He joined them in 2023 on a free transfer, scoring 37 goals and bagging 20 assists in 67 appearances.

His arrival will provide competition and support for Erling Haaland, with Marmoush averaging a goal contribution at almost half the rate of City's star striker this term. Marmoush can play upfront, as a No.10, or on the wing - with sources in Germany suggesting his best role is alongside a powerful forward.
While no fee has been confirmed yet, Frankfurt wanted £67m (€80m), while City were hoping for a fee closer to £50m. Negotiations have now seen the clubs agree on a deal that suits both parties and Marmoush will travel to Manchester for a medical when the agreement has been finalised.
Abdukodir Khusanov, 20, and Vitor Reis, 18, will sign for £33.5m and £29.5m respectively, taking City's expected spend this month to over £100m when Marmoush joins.
While Sunday's trip to Ipswich will come too soon for Marmoush to feature for City - they must register any new signings by 12pm on the last working day before a fixture (Friday) - there is no rush to register him before next week's trip to Paris Saint-Germain as he cannot feature in the remaining two Champions League league phase fixtures.
