Manchester City are yet to bid for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, according to the German club's manager.

Marmoush will be part of their weekend plans against St Pauli amid intense speculation over his future. City have made Marmoush a top target this month and hope to sign him for around £50m, but Eintracht reportedly want closer to £80m and are aware that selling him will weaken their bid to qualify for the Champions League next season and progress in the Europa League in the current campaign.

Eintracht are third in the Bundesliga and fifth in the Europa League thanks to Marmoush's 18 goals and 12 assists this season - prompting City and others to look at acquiring his services.

Frankfurt's Sporting Director Markus Krosche this week insisted they wanted to keep their squad together, but crucially did not close the door to a January exit. Instead, he said 'something extraordinary' would have to happen for Marmoush to leave. Basically - 'make us an offer'.

And the posturing before negotiations will continue this weekend with Marmoush set to play against St Pauli, with Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmöller insisting his player has not had his head turned by transfer interest from the Etihad.

Toppmöller said: “There is no contact between the clubs. Omar will be in the starting eleven on Saturday. He is having a lot of fun with the boys. Omar feels very comfortable in the group. There have been no signs that he is distracted.”

Krosche had said earlier this week: "Our basic intention is to keep the squad together. Something extraordinary would have to happen for us to move away from this position."
