Man City set for shock summer exit giving Arsenal chance to close quality gap

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson

Manchester City's first-choice shot-stopper Ederson is rumoured to be considering a stunning exit from the Etihad as the summer transfer window looms.

Having been instrumental in securing City's Premier League dominance with a fourth consecutive title ahead of Arsenal, the Brazilian goalkeeper's trophy cabinet has been bolstered by six titles since his 2017 switch from Benfica.

Ederson, who has been the go-to keeper for City over the past seven years, is now at the centre of speculation suggesting he might be on the move once the transfer period kicks off.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has hinted at the "possibility" of Ederson seeking pastures new this summer, with a "good proposal" potentially tipping the scales.

Interest is reportedly brewing from teams in the Saudi Pro KLeague, eager to snap up the 30-year-old's services. Ultimately, it seems the decision rests with Ederson himself, as he contemplates whether to embark on a new footballing journey away from Manchester, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The Brazilian international made the leap to City in a deal valued at £35million nearly seven years back and extended his stay until 2026 with a contract renewal in 2021, which means he's approaching the last two years of his current terms.

The shot-stopper was absent from City's final day triumph over West Ham, which clinched the Premier League title, due to an eye socket injury sustained in last week's victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Consequently, he will also sit out the FA Cup final against Manchester United this weekend, and if rumours are to be believed, he may have already played his last game for City.

Speculation began earlier this month that Ederson could be a hot property this summer. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League were said to be keen on securing his services, with Liverpool's Alisson also reportedly on their radar.
