Liam Delap has been thriving since his permanent exit from Manchester City.

Delap spent last season on loan with Hull City, scoring eight goals for the Tigers in the Championship. The striker already has six to his name in the top flight this season.

Before the international break, Delap scored a goal and provided an assist as Ipswich recorded a 2-1 win away at Tottenham Hotspur. The win in North London was Ipswich's first victory in the top flight this season since their promotion from the Championship.

Sunday saw Delap take on Manchester United as Ipswich hosted the Reds at Portman Road. The 21-year-old's form has led to questions over if City have the option of bringing him back to the Etihad Stadium in the future.

The deal for Delap to join Ipswich on a permanent deal saw a £20million fee being agreed. Southampton were also interested in signing the striker in the summer, but Delap chose to complete a move to East Anglia.

As part of the move to Ipswich, City also included a 20% sell-on clause as well as a buyback clause in the event the club want the striker to return to the Etihad. It remains to be seen if City will want to act on the buyback clause and what fee would need to be paid if that was to be the case.

City already have Erling Haaland as their starting striker at the club, but did sell Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.

Reports in recent days have also speculated that City are showing an interest in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Sweden international has scored 24 goals in 19 appearances this season for Sporting, and has also been credited as a potential target for United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
