Man United flop Memphis Depay's astonishing contract details emerge after Brazil move
Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay is enjoying life in Brazil after making the switch from Atletico Madrid to Corinthians last September.
The 30-year-old left joined the Brazilian giants halfway through their season - making a total of 11 appearances and scoring seven goals. But his move took a lot of convincing from Corinthians as they beat off competition from several clubs.
The Mirror reports that a huge offer helped convince him to make the switch as he risked sacrificing his international career. Despite reportedly being paid £300,000-a-week, his salary is being boosted by extras that include a luxury house, two armed guards and a couple of bulletproof cars.

He is set to bank at least £31.4million after agreeing a two-year deal. In addition to that, he will receive another £850,000 annually if he reaches 30 goals and assists in a season as well as a £640,000 bonus for each trophy he helps win.
If he is named in the team of the year at the end of the season, he will bag another £640,000. However, given his fitness issues in the past and should he remain fit for most of the season and play in 'at least 70%' of Corinthians' games, he will pocket an £850,000 annual bonus.
Depay has also been given a luxury house in a gated community with access to the services of a private chef, two armed security guards and drivers around the clock. Corinthians have also offered a separate property for his entourage as well as 24 business-class tickets for flights between Brazil and Europe every year.
Corinthians have also ensured the forward has his own VIP box at the NEO Quimica Arena.
Even if he does eventually leave the Sao Paulo-based club, Depay will still receive a portion of that fee. If he joins another Brazilian side, the Dutchman will still pocket 50% of his 20.3m fee while foreign clubs would have to pay £8.3m for his services and he would be handed 20% of that.
Depay's time at Old Trafford was less luxurious however as he failed to fulfil his potential at the club. In two seasons, he played 53 times, scoring just seven goals.
