Manchester United reportedly have four names on their shortlist to reinforce their attack but it isn't Viktor Gyokeres.

With Marcus Rashford heavily linked with a move away this month, United would be prepared to sanction a transfer for an attacker if he leaves. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are no longer deemed as 'untouchable' for a sale and selling either one or Rashford would help fund a new signing.

Selling homegrown products represents a huge profit from a Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) perspective. Rashford is attracting interest from Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund though his reported £325,000-a-week salary makes a move challenging while Garnacho is admired by Napoli and Chelsea.

According to the Mail, the Reds scouts have been tracking Premier League trio Liam Delap, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha while Lille striker Jonathan David is also on their radar.

Delap has impressed during Ipswich Town’s fight against relegation this term and Mbeumo has played a significant role for Brentford, scoring 13 goals so far. Cunha has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs and is yet to sign a contract extension at Molineux.

David meanwhile, is out of contract at Lille in the summer and has a host of English clubs lining up for his signature including Liverpool.

However, Gyokeres does not appear to feature in that list. Sporting Clube de Portugal are reluctant to sell the 26-year-old this month when it could massively impact their title push and Champions League hopes.

A move at the end of the season is thought to be more realistic for all parties. So much so that reports in Portugal suggest Gyokeres and Sporting have a gentleman’s agreement to allow the striker to leave the club for a fee between £58.6 and £62.8m.

Ruben Amorim has also previously gone on record to insist that he would not be signing any players from Sporting in the January transfer window.
