Manchester United have been told exactly what they need to do to sign Matheus Cunha. The 25-year-old forward has been heavily linked with numerous Premier League clubs during the January transfer window following his impressive performances for Wolves.

Cunha, who sees his contract at Molineux expire in June 2027, has featured 21 times in the English top flight this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists. Despite his best efforts, Wolves have been fighting for survival, with just goal difference stopping them from falling into the relegation zone.

The Brazil international's eye-catching displays have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including United. In fact, according to the Mirror, Ruben Amorim's side are joined by Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in the race to secure Cunha's signature.

He would be a luxury signing, and his price tag certainly reflects that; Sky Sports claim a £60m bid could tempt Wolves to cash in. While the West Midlands outfit will be desperate to hold onto Cunha this month, cracks are already beginning to show in his relationship with the new head coach.

Vitor Pereira, who replaced Gary O'Neil in the dugout last month, was quizzed on Cunha's performance during Wolves' clash against Chelsea. He said: "He's a captain and I had this conversation in the dressing room. He can be frustrated because he wants to win, but everyone in the dressing room wants to win.

"I don't like this body language. I want someone as a captain, trying to help the team, running, suffering, fighting together. But this is something I can understand. Next time I will not understand."

Then, on Cunha's future, Pereira claimed it's 'normal' for players to be distracted by interest from big clubs. The Wolves boss said: "He is committed to Wolves. But in your life when you start to listen that other clubs (are interested), he's human and it's normal in football.

"He needs to put his mind on the target, to increase his level because he's come from injury and it's normal he's not at the same level now. To help the team again with his quality, because he has a lot of quality. The team needs him with good energy, not with frustration. He must slow down and put his mind in the right place."

While Pereira was upset with Cunha, he knows the United target could save Wolves from relegation this season. Shortly after arriving at Molineux, the 56-year-old said: "He is a special player. He can do things that can make the difference in small details.

"I think it is not about work, it is about quality, his individual quality. Matheus Cunha is a player, in my opinion, who can reach high standards in this league. I hope not [elsewhere] because we need him."
