Marcus Rashford's Manchester United future looks to have taken another twist this time involving Chelsea and Joao Felix. Following his bombshell exit wish from just over one month ago, Rashford has been named in just one United matchday squad by Ruben Amorim and he was again absent from the 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

After the game, which was United's fourth league defeat from their last five at Old Trafford, Amorim was asked about Rashford's ongoing absence and his response was certainly telling. "It is his choice [not to play]. I don’t want to focus on this bad moment because in the games we lost, Rashford is not here," he said.

"I don't want to put this moment on Rashford. Rashford is out of this moment because he is not playing. No matter what, I am not going to put out a player I don’t believe is the best for the team." In terms of where Rashford could move this month, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund appear to be the only clubs still in the race for his signature.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," Rashford, said of his desire to depart United. "When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'.

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. "I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person.

"When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me." Dortmund currently seem as the frontrunners with new talks having taken place earlier this week as the German club look to sign him on loan, according to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg.

Milan, meanwhile, are focusing efforts and the majority of their transfer budget on signing Kyle Walker from Manchester City. Though Rashford could still be of interest, it now looks as though Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Co. have identified a new attacking target to actively pursue.

Again, according to Plettenberg, Chelsea's Felix is now of huge interest to Milan while there is no sign of a move for Rashford due to the massive financial package involved. However, it is certainly possible that similar issues prevent Milan from signing Felix with the Blues also unlikely to sanction his departure.

With that in mind, it looks as though Rashford joining Dortmund is his only option to play football again this season unless a giant United U-turn is completed. As for a possible exit for Alejandro Garnacho, MEN Sport confirmed a £40million offer from Napoli was rejected by United earlier this week.

Reports in Italy have since claimed a second and improved proposal was launched over the weekend with Tuttosport claiming the value of that was £46.5million (€55m). Garnacho was a second half substitute in the game against Brighton.

He continues to be a key player for Amorim despite swirling transfer talk around the Argentina international.
