Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ruben Amorim might be temped to add another midfielder to his squad during the January transfer window and Ederson is someone who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Brazilian, 25, has made over 100 appearances for Atalanta since joining the club in 2022. He was linked with a move to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City in the summer.

However, it has been reported that Ederson is not for sale in January and suitors, such as United, might have to wait until the summer to try and sign him. Atalanta have made a fine start to the Serie A season and sit top of the table after 17 matches and don't want to lose one of their star players. The Italian outfit have also impressed in the Champions League, having won three, drawn two and lost one of their six fixtures.

Meanwhile, United are willing to pay Victor Osimhen's release clause, according to Fichajes. United are said to be looking for a 'quality striker' to strengthen Ruben Amorim's frontline in 2025 and have earmarked Osimhen as an option. The Nigerian's long-term Napoli future is in doubt.

It's reported that United are keen to meet his £62million release clause next month alongside Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Osimhen is on loan on Galatasaray and has scored 12 goals in 15 matches for the Turkish club, but there is a clause that allows him to be recalled if Napoli agree a deal in January.

Elsewhere, United have revived their interest in Illan Meslier, according to The Sun. The Frenchman was a target two-years ago when Leeds were relegated to the Championship, but he stayed at Elland Road and has since been a regular in the second tier under Daniel Farke.

However, United 'keeper scout Tony Coton reportedly still likes Meslier and is keeping tabs on his situation as the Reds look to strengthen their goalkeeping department. It's said that United are hoping to add a second-choice 'keeper to their ranks to support No.1 Andre Onana, with Altay Bayindir not impressing.
