Manchester United are expected to lose at least one of Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford before the end of the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

Ruben Amorim's side have endured a difficult 2024/25 season so far and it's thought that United might need to dip into the market to give the squad a major boost. However, they are yet to make a signing this month and could be forced to sell players first for Profit and Sustainability (PSR) purposes.

Rashford is someone that has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at United after not playing a single minute since December 12. He was once again left out of the matchday squad for United's Europa League tie against Rangers on Thursday night.

However, options are few and far between for Rashford this winter. The Independent has reported that Juventus are the only club seen as potentially completing a loan deal. It's added that the England international would be open to that, as he waits for first-choice destination Barcelona in the summer.

The report continues to say that if the forward doesn't leave, it could hasten the need for United to sell Alejandro Garnacho for PSR purposes. Failure to shift one, however, would also mean United only do one purchase in January, with Amorim reportedly stressing the need for a left wing-back. Patrick Dorgu is the man at the top of United's wanted list.

As for Garnacho, The Telegraph reported on Thursday that Chelsea are planning a first bid for the Argentine. Napoli, who are among the others that have been linked, are expected to be priced out of a move for Garnacho after their latest £42million bid was rejected.

It's continued that United are ready to play hardball over the future of Garnacho, 20, who they value at more than £50m. Amorim's men are also insistent that they will not consider offers involving players they do not want moving in the opposite direction.

While United need to offload one of Rashford or Garnacho for PSR purposes, Dorgu is the left-wing back that has been tipped to arrive at Old Trafford. The Athletic claim that United have made a new bid of £25.3m - £8.4m short of Lecce's valuation for the 20-year-old Denmark international.
