It was a disappointing afternoon for Manchester United at Old Trafford as they fell to defeat against Brighton.

It was the worst possible start for United as they fell behind inside just five minutes when Yankuba Minteh put Brighton ahead. Ruben Amorim's side did draw level in the first half.

United were awarded a penalty by referee Peter Bankes after Joshua Zirkzee was dragged down in the Brighton box. Bruno Fernandes stepped up and sent goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen the wrong way to make the scoreline 1-1.

Brighton thought they had taken the lead, once again, in the second half, but Joao Pedro's strike was ruled out by VAR for a foul on Diogo Dalot during the build-up. Brighton did, however, re-take the lead just a few minutes later through Kaoru Mitoma.

It got worse for United, with 15 minutes left to play, when Geroginio Rutter punished Andre Onana for spilling a cross. The result leaves United in 13th place in the Premier League table, having picked up 26 points from their 22 games so far this season.
