Manchester United have just over a week to wait before the January transfer window opens and they are able to make new signings.

Ruben Amorim has been assessing the United squad ever since he was named as the club's new head coach back in November. The 39-year-old will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup in midweek when they face Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend.

United's clash against the Cherries is their final match before Christmas and the first of their final three fixtures of the calendar year. From January 1, the transfer window will open and United are already being linked with several potential new signings.

United are continuing to be linked with a move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The Brazilian was credited as a potential target for United back in the summer after he played a key role in the Serie A club winning the Europa League.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Ederson remains a target for United that the club are "seriously considering" signing. However, despite the interest, the report claims that not everyone within the Old Trafford hierarchy is fully convinced that Ederson is a player the club should sign.

As a result, United are reportedly not yet in talks with Atalanta over a deal to bring the midfielder to Manchester in 2025. It has been reported that the Serie A club value Ederson at around €70million (£58million).

Elsewhere, United have reportedly been handed a boost in their apparent pursuit of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu. According to Give Me Sport, Dorgu would be unlikely to reject a move to United should the club decide to try and sign the left-back.

The report claims that United are weighing up a move to try and sign Dorgu in the New Year, but are yet to decide if an offer will be made. The 20-year-old is reported to be valued at around £30million by Lecce, but it remains to be seen if the price tag matches the valuation that United have for the left-back.
