Manchester United star Antony is set to undergo a medical on Tuesday ahead of a loan move to Real Betis.

The 24-year-old, who joined United for £82million from Ajax in August 2022, is closing in on a move to Spain after struggling for game time this season. In fact, Antony has not started a single Premier League match in 2024/25, playing just 135 first-team minutes in the top flight.

He has been more prominent in the United fold since the arrival of Ruben Amorim in November, but that isn't expected to prevent his departure this month. According to AS, Antony's move to Betis 'should go through soon'. It's added that the Brazilian will travel to Seville in the 'next few hours' to carry out medical tests.

United are said to have included 'countless clauses' in the deal to ensure that Antony features regularly for Betis. Manuel Pellegrini's side are expected to cover part of his high salary and won't have an option or obligation to buy. Antony is pocketing £200,000 per-week at United - the sixth-highest earner at the club.

Antony has endured a disappointing two-and-a-half years at United since his move from Ajax. His first season was not a disaster, however. He scored eight goals and added three assists in 44 appearances and helped United win the Carabao Cup, reach the FA Cup final and finish third in the Premier League.

That is as good as it has got for the Brazilian at United. Antony had a nightmare 2023/24 campaign, scoring three times and providing two assists in 38 matches across all competitions. A similar pattern has followed this season, with Antony finding the net just ONCE in 14 games.

Speaking last week on Antony's future, Amorim revealed he was hoping to keep him at the club. "Like I said, I want to keep my players, I'm focused on these players," Amorim said in a press confence. "I don't know what is going to happen this window, we'll see. But he did a good job (against Southampton)."
