Man Utd drop Alejandro Garnacho transfer hint as £50m Chelsea lifeline emerges
There is just over a week of the January transfer window to go as transfer news in and around Chelsea heats up.
Enzo Maresca is keen to add a new left-winger to his squad before the window closes, with Alejandro Garncho emerging as a key target. After a busy summer, the Blues are yet to add any new faces to their squad in the current window.
On the pitch, Chelsea are back in Premier League action on Saturday as they travel to take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The game sees Maresca return to the club where he was assistant manager to Pep Guardiola.

While preparations for that game continue, football.london have taken a look at some of the latest stories doing the rounds and while giving some of our thoughts.
Chilwell's transfer lifeline
Chelsea forgotten man Ben Chilwell is of interest to Borussia Dortmund, according to the Sun , with the German team on the search for an alternative target to Renato Veiga.
Chilwell has been out of the Chelsea squad under Maresca, and is expected to be available for transfer in the final week of the January transfer window. It is, however, said that his wages could be a stumbling block to any move.
Dortmund are said to be showing an interest, something that could tempt Chilwell, but the player is said to be keener on staying in England and in the Premier League.
FL Says : If Chelsea can move Chilwell on before the deadline, then it would be good for both the club and the player. He has played just 45 minutes of football so far this season, which could potentially put clubs off, with him possibly struggling for match fitness.
A loan deal would be the most realistic way of moving Chilwell on during January. Chelsea may have to also accept paying a portion of the full-back’s wages to facilitate a move.
Alejandro Garnacho hint
Chelsea looks the most likely destination for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho should he move away from Old Trafford before the deadline. football.london understands that United are awaiting a first bid from Chelsea for the winger.
But any suggestion that a move could be close, or that United are expecting an imminent sale, may not be the case. The Argentine was in the starting XI for United’s Europa League clash against Rangers on Thursday night and played the full 90 minutes of the game, hitting the post in the second half.
FL says : Garnacho would be an interesting signing for Chelsea, while he’s shown flashes of brilliance for United, he’s not always been the most consistent performer. If the Blues do complete a deal and Maresca can get the best out of him, then he would be a clever addition to the squad.
