Manchester City have verbally agreed a fee with Eintracht Frankfurt to bring their forward Omar Marmoush to the Etihad Stadium this month.

Agreeing a figure with Frankfurt has proved a protracted process for City, with the German club demanding more than €60m (£50.5m) during negotiations, given his exit will hurt their push for Champions League qualification, with the side currently third in the Bundesliga.

Marmoush, 25, can operate across the frontline and has an impressive 20 goals in 26 matches across all competitions for Frankfurt this season. Fifteen of those have come in the Bundesliga, where he is one goal behind the league’s top scorer, Harry Kane.

The Egypt international will boost manager Pep Guardiola’s misfiring squad, who have hit an alarming dip in form in recent months, and fill a hole in the squad since Julián Álvarez’s £81.5m move to Atlético Madrid last summer.

Marmoush joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from fellow Bundesliga club Wolfsburg in 2023. He began his career at Wadi Degla in his homeland.

The Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has confirmed his exit from the club in a goodbye message posted on social media on Thursday.

Kvaratskhelia [pictured] is set to join the French champions,Paris Saint-Germain, with Napoli coach Antonio Conte revealing on Saturday that the Georgian international had asked to leave the Serie A club immediately, despite his contract with the club running until 2027.

'It's hard for me, but it's time to say goodbye,' Kvaratskhelia said in a video posted on Instagram. ;I spent an amazing time here, we shared a lot of memories together, experienced a lot of amazing emotions. Naples was my home, where I felt wonderful thanks to each of you.'

Kvaratskhelia signed for Napoli in 2022 and was named Serie A's player of the season in the 2022-23 campaign. His 12 goals and 13 assists helped the club win their first Scudetto in 33 years, earning him the nickname 'Kvaradona'. Reuters

This week Guardiola said that he regretted turning down the chance to strengthen City’s squad in the summer after his side won their fourth Premier League title in succession.

The January transfer window is proving a busy one for the club, with a £33.5m fee agreed with Lens for the centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov and another young defender, 19-year-old Brazilian Vitor Reis, set for a £29.5m move from Palmeiras.

Meanwhile, club captain Kyle Walker has asked to leave City amid links with a transfer to Milan.
