Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Omar Marmoush for €70m (£59.1m) plus €5m in add-ons from Eintracht Frankfurt and have agreed to loan Kyle Walker to Milan, who have an option to buy the defender in summer.

Marmoush, who has a four-and-a-half-year contract, is the Premier League champions’ third acquisition of the window. He follows the defenders Vitor Reis, bought from Palmeiras for £29.6m, and Abdukodir Khusanov, signed for £33.8m from Lens, taking City’s spend to £122.5m.

The Egyptian, who can operate at No 9 or as a wide forward, will offer Pep Guardiola a different option in attack. Marmoush said: “This is a day I will never forget. To sign for Manchester City is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family is so proud. With Pep, his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to become better. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here.

“I cannot deny: I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates and I want to become a valued member of this winning team.”

The 25-year-old has scored 37 goals and made 20 assists in 67 games since joining Eintracht in the summer of 2023 from Wolfsburg. This season he has 15 scored Bundesliga goals, one behind the top scorer, Harry Kane.

Txiki Begiristain, City’s sporting director, said: “Omar is an accomplished and exciting forward and I’m delighted he’s joining us. He’s had an outstanding season and every time we have watched him he has influenced matches. He has all the attributes a top-class attacker requires.

“He has outstanding pace and awareness and he is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play a number of different positions, which is a really valuable asset. I also have no doubt that working with Pep and the technical staff here at City will see him further develop his superb attacking talent.”

Walker’s loan to Milan for the rest of the season comes after he informed City he wanted to leave. The 34-year-old has wonsix Premier Leagues, the Champions League, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and the Club World Cup since he joined City in July 2017.
