The new season is only a few weeks old yet Manchester City are looking to set another club record already.

Despite winning three titles inside the last six years, they don’t often actually tend to start like an express train.

In fact, they have only ever won their first three Premier League fixtures three times.

But they rarely do it with the swagger and style we have become accustomed to. Last season they had already dropped two points at Everton, but this time around there’s been no holding the champions back.

After side-stepping Arsenal and then dismantling Huddersfield with ease, they now have the chance to create a bit of history.

City did start the 2011-12 season with vigour, the year they finally put one over Manchester United. They ended the first three games with three wins, and a plus-nine goal difference.

But having already scored eight goals and let in just one, they could blow that out of the water when they face promoted Wolves this weekend.

With a +7 goal difference, a decent day at Molineux could see them write another chapter.

The Premier League newboys have been warned that City striker Sergio Aguero is in the form of his life right now.

After a hat-trick against Huddersfield, manager Pep Guardiola said: “Since I’ve been here, I’ve never seen him like this. The spirit since he came back from the holidays after the World Cup, he is in incredible condition.”
