Manchester United: Amad Diallo sends position message to Ruben Amorim after hat-trick
Amad Diallo says he is happy to play anywhere Ruben Amorim wants him after scoring a hat-trick from wing-back as Manchester United beat Southampton.
United were on course for another damaging, and deserved, defeat against a team bottom of the table, after a Manuel Ugarte own goal in the first half.
Amad was a growing threat as the game wore on, and scored all three of his goals from the left-hand side - taking advantage of defensive mistakes either side of a stunning volley - to complete a 12-minute hat-trick deep into injury time.
It caps a stellar week for the 22-year-old, who signed a new long-term contract days ago.
"In football you have to believe," he told TNT Sports. "We believed until the end and are very happy to win this game. We drew with Arsenal and Liverpool so the confidence was there. We are very happy.
"[This is] one of the best weeks in my life. I am very happy for this win. This team deserved to win this game so I am very happy."
United struggled throughout the game, with Southampton missing multiple chances to put the game to bed before Amad struck his treble.
The youngster continued: "We know we have quality players in this team. We need sometimes to be more hungry in the final third. Today we showed at the end we were the best team. I am so happy for the win today because this team deserves it.
"I am ready to play every position where the manager likes to put me. I am ready to fight for this club. I am so happy to play where the manager wants me to play and I am so happy to score a hat-trick."
