Manchester United have clear Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo transfer choice amid FFP threat
Manchester United will have some tough decisions to make as they eye another summer rebuild.
The Reds are in desperate need of a PSR boost, with their current position restricting any business they can do in January to strengthen an underperforming squad. Thursday's lacklustre win over bottom-of-the-table Southampton highlighted the scale of Ruben Amorim's task to revitalise United.
The Portuguese head coach knows that much of this squad is ill-suited to his philosophy, and having previously talked about a storm at Old Trafford, he will also have realised this is a huge freight ship, careering all over the place. Lost at sea.

Marcus Rashford is one castaway who could be set to land a move elsewhere. Facing an uncertain future at M16, his academy graduate status means that a sale would represent pure profit on United's balance sheet.
Two other youth academy stars have also been linked with moves away. Chelsea are interested in Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
A sale abroad would be United's preferred option, but if they are forced into selling one of them, it's clear who should go. While Garnacho, 20, still has plenty of room for improvement, his inconsistencies have frustrated United fans and his suitability to Amorim's system is also in question.
The talented forward plays better as a winger, a position which does not fit into his manager's 3-4-3 formation. Garnacho played as a No 10 against Southampton but had a poor game.
And whilst Mainoo has not hit the heights he reached last season, his position as a central midfielder alongside Manuel Ugarte has shown some promise in recent games against Liverpool and Arsenal.
There is also a general feeling that he is only likely to get better, something which cannot be said with the same certainty about Garnacho.
The Manchester Evening News has been told that the club do not want to drive Mainoo out of the club. Garnacho meanwhile is not actively pursuing a move away.
Whatever United choose to do in January or the summer, it's clear that the sales of homegrown talent will have to be made and choosing who will go could define Amorim's tenure at Old Trafford.
